PI (Prison Industries) does the work in Fox River that the prison can't afford to employ other people to do.

In the shows first season Brad Bellick receives money from John Abruzzi in order that John Abruzzi runs PI. Michael gets into PI to meet his brother and later realises that PI is a good way to fix things needed for his escape plan.
